How to set up Stripe for your payouts
Delmarva Drinks pays you through Stripe, the payment company behind millions of businesses. Connecting your bar takes about 10 minutes, and it’s the one step you must finish before you can get paid.
Before you start: have these ready
Stripe is required by law to confirm who it’s paying, so it asks for the same details a bank would. Have these handy:
- Your email and mobile phone. Stripe texts you a code to confirm it’s you, now and each time you log in.
- Your business’s legal name and EIN (Employer Identification Number), exactly as they appear on your IRS paperwork. Sole proprietors without an EIN can use the owner’s Social Security number instead.
- The business address and phone number.
- Details for the person setting it up (an owner or manager who can act for the business): name, date of birth, home address and the last 4 digits of their Social Security number. Stripe sometimes asks for the full number or a photo of a driver’s license to finish checking.
- Anyone who owns 25% or more of the business: their name, date of birth and home address.
- The bank account for deposits: routing number and account number, found at the bottom of a check or in your online banking. A business checking account is best.
Your bank and Social Security details go straight to Stripe over a secure connection. Delmarva Drinks never sees or stores them.
Step by step

Log in to your bar portal
Go to delmarvadrinks.com/bar and log in with the username and password we sent you. Forgot it? Use Forgot password on the login page.

Open Payments and press Connect with Stripe
Payments is in the menu of your bar portal. The button takes you to Stripe’s secure setup pages. Your bar’s name and industry are already filled in for you.

Confirm your email and phone
Enter your email address and mobile number, then type the code Stripe texts you. If you already have a Stripe login, you can use it here.

Tell Stripe about the business
Choose your business type (for example LLC, corporation or sole proprietor), then enter the legal name, EIN, address and phone. Where it asks for a website, use your own site, or your Delmarva Drinks page if you don’t have one.

Add the person in charge and the owners
Enter your own details as the representative, then anyone who owns 25% or more. If you’re the only owner, say so and move on.

Add your bank account
Enter the routing and account number for the account you want paid into. Double-check the numbers: a typo is the most common reason a payout is late.

Review and submit
Check everything, agree to Stripe’s terms and press Submit. Stripe sends you back to your Delmarva Drinks Payments page.
After you’re connected
Back on the Payments page of your bar portal you’ll see one of these:
- ✓ Stripe is connected You’re done. Customers can now buy drinks at your bar, and payouts start automatically.
- Stripe needs a few more details Press Finish Stripe setup and Stripe shows exactly what’s missing. This usually means an ID photo or a missing digit, and it only takes a minute. Stripe may also email you if it needs something later.
How you get paid, and how to use Stripe
- Paid when the gift is bought. As soon as someone buys a drink at your bar, your share goes into your Stripe balance. You don’t have to wait for it to be redeemed.
- Deposited to your bank automatically. Stripe usually deposits your balance into your bank account within about 2 business days. Your very first payout takes longer, typically about 7 days, while Stripe verifies the new account.
- See everything in your Stripe dashboard. On the Payments page, press Open my Stripe dashboard. You can also log in any time at connect.stripe.com/express_login with your email and a texted code.
- In the Stripe dashboard you can: see your balance and upcoming deposits, look back at past payouts, change your bank account, update your contact details, and download any tax documents Stripe provides.
- Sales tax: you’re the seller, so enter menu prices with tax included and remit sales tax to your state as you do for any other sale. Your Orders page and Stripe dashboard show every sale for your records.
- Sales and redemptions are in your Delmarva Drinks bar portal under Orders, so you can match each gift to a payout.
- Refunds are handled by us. If a gift is refunded, it’s taken back out of your Stripe balance automatically.
Questions
The Stripe page says the link expired.
Setup links only last a few minutes for your security. Go back to Payments in your bar portal and press the button again; you’ll pick up where you left off.
We don’t have an EIN.
If the bar is a sole proprietorship, choose “Sole proprietor” as the business type and use the owner’s Social Security number. LLCs and corporations need their EIN.
Stripe is asking for a photo ID.
That’s normal. Stripe occasionally needs a photo of a driver’s license or passport to confirm who you are. Follow the steps on screen; it’s usually approved within minutes.
I need to change the bank account.
Open your Stripe dashboard from the Payments page and update it under your payout settings. New payouts go to the new account.
Someone else will be handling the money.
Any owner or manager who can act for the business can complete the setup. Just use their details as the representative.
Can I use PayPal or Square instead?
Not at the moment: every Delmarva Drinks payout goes through Stripe, which lets us pay you automatically and keep your banking details secure.
